I don't see where the manufacturer says it is strictly for aluminum boats. The do say that "Carpet allows fine particles of sand to embed into the carpet that slowly grinds away at your gel coat....

Or go the route Mercruiser does with fine thread studs and brass nuts. Easy to work with and there is never a rust problem. Working the riser onto the studs is easier than getting the bolts started...
