In my book, since he paid for the packing and freight he is responsible for both. He should be collecting damages from the provider(s). In the meantime you should be made whole.

I was having bad sinus problems, got a kayak nose clip that came with a lanyard perfect to attach to my suit zipper. Once I'm up nose clip comes off so I don't look goofy in the pics :)
