Correct...that is in the starting position as well. I do not know the voltage reading during start. I have a volt readout but never pay attention to it when I turn the key.

A splined shaft doesn't have a taper best I recall.

Check your owner's manual. I think it states 50 ft-lbs.

Tapered shafts do not have a torque value... thus the taper and key way.
