I have had both and ended up selling the drive on...

I have had both and ended up selling the drive on and went with a lift. On busy days during the summer, the drive on could not handle the rough water (as Scotty C mentioned).

Will it latch and un-latch when not attached to the ball? If yes then it is all in forward/rear, up/down position. Once you find the sweet spot then you will get the hang of it.
