Don’t rule out the pig tail connector that goes to the fuel pump. I had same type of symptoms and replaced mine 2 years ago and problem went away.

You will still need it if towing tubes etc. My cover has extra reinforcing where the pylon meets the cover to prevent wear and tearing. Also helps to stop water pooling due to height above rear area.

I believe no drain hole is by design. If your battery has a catastrophic failure you do not want all that acid running down to the bilge. My 03 X2 has no drain.

I had the same issue, random cut outs, random not priming when ignition turned on. P/O had replaced the pump as well. I installed a new pig tail connector onto the pump and never had the issue again....

I'm in the process of rebuilding my 3 water puppy pumps. Is there any trick to removing the bearing from the shaft and also from the cast housing? Bearing is a 608Z with a HX stamp as well.
