I'd pull the intake to see if you can find where the water is coming from. Also, I wouldn't leave the oil/water mix in the engine for too long.

Battery tenders are small enough to leave in the boat IMO. I've got 3 in a portable case w/ a fan and a quick disconnect fitting. works great. $45 each for 12v. 3 stage charging.

Spray a little wd40 in the cylinder and turn it over a few times to keep that cylinder clean. If you got a lot of water, run diesel through it to flush it out.

You should be able to hear it miss at idle. Easiest way to test spark would be timing light, like flipper suggested. Move the clamp around to each wire while its running.

Checked the book last night. They were building a 289 with 7/16" bolts. The book also says it covers everything from a 221 up to a 400M, including the windsor. Just a tad confusing. Oh well,...
