I've always been surprised at how low the bow sits on the X-Star, even without ballast. I get the idea that it looks cool/stealth/mean, but in my opinion it's a design flaw. If a boat needs that...

Further to my first comment, if you have to put that much ballast in a boat to generate a decent wake, you've got the wrong boat. As much as I am a fan of Mastercraft boats in general, there isn't a...

Using that logic, I suppose we should ban all boats greater than 30 feet in length. There are plenty of boats on my lake that are not wakeboard/surf boats that produce wakes that are equal to, or...

Why would I say it's a pain to set up starboard? Because there are many boats out there (not just MC) that throw nice port wakes, but washy starboard wakes. This is often due to prop rotation, hull...

I'd be interested in seeing that video, thanks. I am confused about your setting of port tab at 80%...if you are surfing port side, wouldn't putting down the port tab reduce the size of the wake...

Some of the people responding here have said "get a larger board" or "just about any boat is surfable with the right ballast". I agree with the those statements if you goal is simply to surf. But...

When I say "decent", it's all relative...I guess I am comparing the videos of surf wakes of the X25 and the RZ2. There are tons of videos on the internet of RZ2's producing truly amazing surf wakes,...

Mastercraft and Wakesurfing

As an avid Wakesurfer and fan of Mastercraft boats, I am finding it more difficult to justify my next purchase in favor of Mastercraft. Tige and Centurion have absolutely fantastic wakes for...

I am 99% sure it is a HP rating issue. Indmar was not using the proper standards for rating. I'm not just guessing, this came from the Mastercraft dealer, and to me, it makes complete sense.

Just to clarify, when I said the "horsepower is the same", I meant this year's MCX versus previous years. Not Ilmor and Indmar having the same horsepower. I just re-read my post, and my response...

I believe Ilmor uses the standard SAE test, and Indmar does not. I believe this was the root of the issues. Ilmor has a long history of racing engines, and an understanding of horsepower ratings,...

From my understanding the actual horsepower is the same. The issue was that Indmar was using a different rating methodology than Ilmor, which caused some customer questions/grief/etc., and...

I looked at it again, and the sunpad looks almost completely flat. But maybe my eyes are not working correctly due to presence of distracting striped bikini.

What's interesting about the photo (besides the girls), is the fact that the hull is not even leaning. The fact that there is a decent surf wake without significant hull lean is a testament to the...

Based on the responses to this thread, and my research in other areas, it almost seems to be a toss-up with these 3 boats (in terms of surf wake), with maybe a slightly higher response rate for the...
