I did do that i just overthought it and second guessed myself as i thought all snap rings actually snapped into a groove and stayed there.

Makes sense now and the second time i put it back rogether...

Looks lile i got the reverse gear snap ring and the ring gear snap ring mixed up as they had both come loose. I am going to order both of them.

What did I do wrong? After my rebuild everything was great extremely quiet and even gained more top-end speed for a good 20 minutes. Then started slipping in forward and lost reverse (while docking)...

OK I'm done tranny just passed all driveway tests. Velvet drive is SO quiet now and I understand the vibration on shift cable I used to have a cold start was an indication of needing a rebuild.

Sounds like you were riding one without fins, I make sure beginners have good fins (like 2.5" surf style) then when you get comfortable and want to start jumping you can put smaller ones on.
