I don't know how you go four years without any feedback from your gauges. I would also think if I bought my boat from an uncle that owned a dealership, I could find a way to get the gauges working...

Personally, when the boat is good and dry I would seal the crack with black 5200 or similar. Being in the bilge, the chance of water getting in there is pretty high.
