The more weight you have on the top of the tower -> the more the tower will flex. If it gets too close to your windshield, then limit the weight on top of the tower.

Not to ruin your confidence in the Reese trailer tongue lock, but i had that exact lock and lost the key one winter... I had to break it off to use the boat. Probably the easiest lock ever to break....
