Just to follow up. The balancer pulley does have a separate bolt holding it to the balancer, so I did not have to remove the belt.

I did anyway and ended up just replacing it.

There isn't a tensioner. The alternator bracket has a fore and aft bolt and slides to tension the belt, just like an older non-serpentine setup. I was expecting there to be one.

In order for the pump to come off of the balancer belt pulley, does the drive belt need to come off or be loosened?

I can't see if the belt pulley is mounted to the balancer via the 3 allen bolts...
