thanks for all the tips guys! The transducer peeled right off the boat when i reached down to inspect it. Perhaps i can clean the are where it mounted and re-apply it to see if that fixes the depth...

I know you said V-drive but consider the DD 209/x9 as it fits within your price range and has alot of room for family, surf, wakeboard, ski, etc. Good luck!
