Try replacing the fuel pump relay. There are three relay switches under a Plaque at the rear of the motor. $14.00 from Autozone or Advanced Auto. Keep a spare in the boat.

I think the hex (allen) is used to thread the stud into the block and then used to mount something to the block and then the nylock nut to hold whatever is being mounted.

It is a stud with a 7/16" hex key and a 5/8" nylock nut. Now where to start looking for where it came from:confused:

Something similar to what's on top of a steering box unit or even a lifter type adjuster. Neither of which would be applicable to this situation but might explain the bolt better.

Ok, I put a 5/8" wrench on the nut, put a 7/32"...

Ok, I put a 5/8" wrench on the nut, put a 7/32" Allen in the in the Allen opening and the threads turn in and out of the nut, like it is some type of an adjustment nut.

I have already had a broken alternator bracket...

I have already had a broken alternator bracket bolt and replaced all three. They were the normal hex nut heads and I still have all three of those, including the broken one, I had to dig the thread...
