I don't see ant way that the output seal could cause water to be getting into your transmission. I leaking oil cooler is about the only way that can happen, short of taking on a lot of water! That...

I just replaced the seals in my 630V transmission last night. While I trust my work, an ATF leak is certainly easier to see than a 10W40 leak. Going to fill it tonight, and I'm undecided.

Thanks for the response, but I don't think either of these will work. I have a 1 1/8 tapered shaft, and no set screws. From what I can tell, Algonquin doesn't make one, and I couldn't find one on...

Propshaft coupler replacement

Replacing the trans seals in my '98 Maristar. I was a bit mean to the coupler when removing it from the propshaft, and would like to replace it. My local dealer isn't much help. Where would I find...

Finally got the trans out today. Not a bad job. The hardest part for me was getting the drive flange off the propshaft. The fuel tank had already been moved all the way forward, so I wouldn't have...

Thank you. I checked the Hale Marine website, and it looks like an overhaul kit for $118 has all the seals. Don't plan on going any farther than seals, but the three I need would probably be more...

There's only about 150 hours on this boat, but the oil is coming out pretty fast. Just don't want to take a chance on ruining a vacation. Engine doesn't have to come out on this one. I think I can...

Transmission seals for a '98 200VRS

My output seal is leaking, so the transmission is coming out, and all the seals will be replaced, as well as the drive damper. I haven't found a tag on the transmission yet. What model should it be,...

Thanks for the replies. I'm going to do this myself, as I have plenty of equipment. Not looking forward to it, but it's gotta get done. Don't use the boat a lot (obviously), so I'll tear it down and...

I've used mats, drop-in, and spray-in, and each has their purpose. For a work truck, I like drop-ins. Yeah, they may be hard on the paint, but they protect from dents better than anything. Also, for...

I just picked up a Springfield XD Mod.2 .45 3.3". Haven't shot it yet, but I sure like the way it feels. Was stuck on an XDS, but with my big hands, the Mod.2 fit me a lot better. Not as slim, but...

1998 Maristar transmission leak

Boat is a 1998 200VRS with 156 hours. Went on a short vacation a few weeks ago, and noticed a little pink in the bilge. Another vacation this past week, so I checked things over closely, and found...

Made my trip just fine with the drum master. Trailer stopped very well, and had no issues, but having to put the "key" in the hitch to back up was a pain. New disk master should be here tomorrow,...

If that's the case, I'll use it until the new one comes. Automotive drum brakes generally use a residual pressure valve in or around the master, usually 2 psi. If used with disk, it will make them...

UFP brake master cylinders

What is the primary difference between master cylinders for disk and drum? I converted my trailer to disk brakes, and ended up with the wrong master. I need to use the trailer this weekend, and...

Sounds like you have a bad brake hose. They can swell up inside, and stop flow. Lots of pressure will push through the hose, but won't flow back to let the caliper release. Saw it happen on cars a...

Sorry for the delay. Ran the boat every day for a week vacation. It runs very cool- about 145. Got it up to 160 a couple of times running it hard. Absolutely no temp spikes. That part is good, but I...

1990 nautique

My MC OCD is working on me a little. My very nice 134 hour 200VRS gets dirty sitting on the lift, and since I don't live on the lake, I worry about it too much. I've been considering buying a second,...

By the way, my swim deck is completely different than yours. My boat only has 135 hours, and I'm sure it's original. Has yours been replaced, or were there different ones from the factory?
