JB Weld seems to work well for very small and/or temp fixes. It has a hard time bonding to fiberglass.

The fiberglass repair kit is the way to go for long term fix.

It only drives the alternator on the LT1, no fear of overheating. However, without an alternator you can't really overheat anyway.

LT1 has a different mounting holes. The pump housing is the same but if you buy one from skidim the LT1 pump comes with the correct mounting holes on the flange that attaches to the balancer pulley.

Brine softeners will also remove bicarbonate and sulfur ions. You can even get pellets that will help remove some iron. If you live in the Midwest and have a well this is an absolute must.
