I don't get what you mean. If you mean, that when you look at the flapper, it doesn't close all the way...like when it is on the trailer, thats no big deal. Water pressure will keep those closed...

Where does the purple wire go? Does it go to the external regulator? If so, then once you remove the regulator...you should be able to leave that wire disconnected.
