Wiring question

just replaced all my lights with LED's and everything works perfect. Except for my reverse lights. They never worked when I bought the trailer. Pretty sure the bulbs were toast as stuff was loose inside on the old fixtures. I'm pretty sure they turned on right when I put the truck in reverse but went out immediately. Not positive but I could of swore I saw them on. Checked plugs and ground. Where should I start?

Sounds like a wiring problem that is shorting out the circuit breaker for the back up light circuit. Have you checked for battery voltage at the connector with the trailer unplugged?

May want to check your plug on the truck side. Very few trailers have backups and many time PO leaves this disconnected. You should have a flat 5 plug.

I know my tuck is ok. I have another trailer that I use that has back up lights and they work fine. So I know its somewhere on the trailer. Should I check the plug to see if its getting power at the light? I have a feeling its shorting out somewhere on the trailer.

If they are led the positive and negative May be reversed

I would disconnect both back-up lights and connect to tow vehicle to see if you have a wiring harness short to ground. Then plug in each light to see what happens.

Just looked at flat plug. 6 wires are connected but the 2 blue are not. There is also one blue wire coming from trailer that looks to been cut.

I think blue is the standard color for electronic brake control, but who knows how any individual trailer's been wired (or rewired)! Red is normally for the backup light.

Well the two blue wires were aux which Wesbar says is usually for back up lights. Found the 2 blue wires way up in tongue that someone had cut. Original owner truck must have not been set up. They work great now. Thanks
