Question about stock stereo system in 2012 X 25

When I bought my 2012 x25 it only came with two power tower speakers I recently added two more PowerTower speakers and I'm wondering if I can just connect them to the amplifier that is running the existing two tower speakers or if I need to get a whole new amplifier? Thanks in advance.

What amp are the current pair if tower speakers connected to? The factory sound systems are usually underpowered...so chances are that by adding two more speakers to your factory amp you are going to have even less power to your speakers. Are they JL speakers? The possibilities are endless... Let me know what you have and I might be able to give you a few suggestions. I'm in the process of upgrading my system and have done a fair bit of research and asking questions.

Yes they are JL speakers and amps I will check to see what I have for amps I believe there is two in there.

So there is two JL audio amps in the boat, a big amp and a smaller amp the smaller amp runs the tower speakers and the bigger and runs the sub and the four speakers inside the boat. Thoughts?

you'll need a bigger amp. i believe the small one is like 250 and you need double that

The small amp could be either a 600/4 or a 750/1. Very hard to say by looking at the picture....but my guess would be it's a 600/4. There's a plate on the front of the amp which shows what model it is. The 600/4 is a 4 channel amp which delivers 150W RMS per channel at either 4, 3, 2 or 1.5 ohms. It can be bridged into 2 channels delivering 300 watts per channel...but that's way too much power for the JL speakers. If it is a MHD 600/4, you're in luck! You could add two more speakers so you have a total of four, each getting 150 watts, which is GREAT for the JL speakers.

So if I get another one of the smaller amps and hook up to the other two new tower speakers will that work?

imyourmaster 11-12-2013 09:35 PM

Aric is right...looking at the pics again... Those are M series amps... The small one is a 400/4 or 200/2 and the bigger one could be a 700/5. So you can be sure your speakers are underpowered.
