Remove a stain on frame of windshield

I have a 2013 x2 and the panoramic mirror left an ugly brownish-yellow stain where it was clamped. I have tried several stain removal sprays, no luck. Magic eraser....no luck. Acetone.....no luck.

Has anyone had this happen to them? How can we get rid of it? Will post a pic or two.

Carry it back to dealer for warranty repair!

Dealer has it, but seems to think it won't be covered??!

Put another mirror over it with a clamp that covers it.

you could try a little diluted acetone (get it in paint thinner sections of most stores) but I would do it rather quickly then quickly remove it with water - Acetone is an excellent metals cleaner but it has to be taken off quickly to prevent damage to finishes. Dilute it first or use a very small amount.

My buddy had the same issue. He tried everything. Ended up using 2000 grit sand paper and then polished. He was really careful and took it time. The stain seemed to be embeded the paint.

Also have this problem on my 2013 x30. Have talked with my dealer, they tried to get it off with no luck and are feeling they will likely need to replace the entire metal piece under warranty.

If it was a factory mirror that caused it, it should be under warranty.
