Without going into too much detail why I need this......

Where can I buy a piece of teak. Approx. 1" x 2" x 60 in" ?

I did find this, but $60 including shipping sounds a little high.

Legitimate teak here in KC at my wood store runs about $35 bd ft. That's cash and carry.

It is super expensive. The local hardwood store only gets it in when they can get a good deal on a truck load and it is still one, if not the most expensive woods in the entire store. I will see if they have any in stock. They did about a year ago.

any other alternatives
Has anyone ever used another species of wood that worked out
and what was it?

I have tried and liked Jatoba for parts on an old boat platform...platform was teak, some adjacent parts were Jatoba.

here is a link from another forum on it.

I bought the teak for my replacement deck from them. I've probably got enough left over for the size you need, no idea what it would cost to ship though.
