Maristar Dash Restoration
I just wanted to share some information on my dash restoration. I ordered the replacement decals from Garzon Studios (same place that makes the Capacity Stickers) and I rewrapped my panels Saturday.

I measured and layed out my dash panels in AutoCad and sent them the files, they were not able to convert the drawings directly but they scaled their layout to match what I sent them. I also scanned some Bubinga wood vinyl that I sent them for the wood grain, originaly I was hoping I could wrap the dash with the vinyl then have white letters cut out and apply those but I could not find any shops that could make letters that small.

I wish I had spent more time sanding and filling any imperfections in my old dash panels, they show thru the vinyl some:

After installing gauges the roughness is not as noticable:

I hope this gives someone some ideas of what can be done, the guy at Garzon's said he redid some of the woodgrain in his car after talking with me.

I think he charged around $70 but that was with me doing all the layout and sending them to him. I'm happy with the job he did, I'm just concerned that I might not have prepped the original dash well enough and it might come loose. Time will tell.

I'd talk to them or find a local graphic place that can print on white.

That looks awesome! I have to do something w/ my x-30 dash (basically the same as yours, but aluminum) .. any tips on taking the dash apart? I started to look at it and didn't know where to start.

It's a b*tch.

You can do it two different ways:
0. Find each connector that feeds wiring up into the dash. Using a silver Sharpie, mark a different number on the two matching halves of each connector, and pull them apart. This will help a bit in putting things back together.
1. Each section of dash panels is held into the front of the dash with wingnuts. Reach your hand in from behind and below the dash, through the rough-edged fiberglass cutout that the wiring harness goes through, find each of the wingnuts by feel, unscrew them, and pull the dash panel out the front. Repeat as necessary until you've found all the wingnuts.

2. Remove the steering wheel and the steering box. The bolts around the mount hold the bottom of the dash cover to the solid fiberglass of the top deck of the hull. Then, you'll find (one, several????) wingnuts holding the outer edge of the dash cover to the deck (if you look under the dash, and forward to about where the forward edge of the dash cover is, you'll see one). Remove all the nuts, and the entire dash cover should pull out. This makes accessing the dash panels much, much easier.

I did approach one when I was replacing the depth gauge in my dash. Boy, what a pain! hig did approach two (you can see that the entire dash cover is out and on the ground in his photos). If you're going to replace all the dash panels like he did, I'd certainly pull the whole thing.

Assume that it's going to take you the better part of a day to get the thing torn out, and most of another to get it put back.
