04 209 Bow Handrail

Howdy -
Sitting in the driveway totally stumped how to remove bow seat back cushion along
the sides - to replace missing bolt/stud holding handrail on topside gunnel.

Tried to lift cushion-back upwards - thinking there should be keyholes holding them on -
But its not working.

Removed speaker - that at least got access to the other end of handrail - to remove bar
completely for now.

Thanks

Maybe have to head over to boat shop perhaps - or figure out who to contact at Mastercraft.

2 things. 1) it will do you zero good to remove the cushion. The only hole is the speaker hole. The back is solid. You can gain access to the other side by removing the panel under the drivers dash. it sucks getting under there and its alil cramped but very doable.

2) if you ever want to remove that side cushion its a complete pita that will leave you bleeding if you have real arms.

wow, Thanks - I was afraid of that.

The kids took it upnorth - so I haven't had time to try the impossible through the speaker hole that far up.

A quick peak under the dash - didn't look doable - will look closer at that.

One thought - If I rip the seat back off - a hole saw access point will be made.
Then LockTite for sure on those fasteners -

Those hand rails can do some serious damage on jell coat, getting loose freestyle.
Gaffer Tape held in place, till it was removed.

Under your dash there are 2 panels. The top one with the sub etc is removable with 3 screws. If you take that off you can lay under the dash and reach your hand up under to reach bolts for the bolster. IF IT WERE ME I would have a small woman or someone with smaller arms go through the speaker hole. Its just a total pita to "feel" with the end of a socket. I wouldn't cut up that area. Just make sure they are nice and tight when you get it back on. I gutted from the windshield back of my boat in the same amount of time that it took me to get 1 bolster out lol.
