White spots on dash, steering wheel, and tower

I noticed that I started getting white 'specs' on my dash, steering wheel, and tower. I have been keeping the boat outside (West Michigan) for the last few weeks but always covered with the canvas and tarp (if weather is bad). The spots come off with Babes Boat Brite but there are EVERYWHERE. Just wondering if any one else had a similar problem and has a solution.

Its corrosion. atmospheric corrosion and I'm still looking for a stop for it...

Zach - For some reason I just saw your response. Thanks for the heads up. Let me know if you find a solution. I have been using the Mastercraft All-Purpose cleaner on it after each use and it went away but I have a feeling if I miss a day it will be right back.

If anyone figures this out let me know. My boat is covered buy prior to my ownership I believe it was stored in a metal boathouse (which can cause some metal on metal corrosion).

My steering wheel has it a little bit but my tower is in rough shape the more I obsess about it. I have an array of things to try and am actually getting the buffing wheel (mothers ball equivalent) out today.

It is definitely "pitting" on mine and it sucks. Shows up like white or light grey water spots and besides making them less noticeable I have not been able to remove them with just elbow grease. And they are every freaking where....

Most likely I will be able to temporarily improve the appearance but it will return. My guess is either the metal to metal or improper previous cleaning has damaged the anodized coating. Might involve a full tear down in the off season and have it redone or maybe even powder coated to match the boat.

If anyone has any ideas or suggestions I would be grateful!

The white spots I get in/on my boat are from spray on sun screen. It gets everywhere, especially when it is a little windy. Its takes a bit to get it off especially after it has baked on for a couple of days. I have now outlawed its use on the boat.

Try a metal preservative/cleaner/protectant like Gibbs.
