Acme 1285 vs 1479 -- any experience?

I'm currently running an Acme 1285 on my 05 X2. (Was installed by the PO.) We board and surf but also slalom. I contacted Acme for suggestions on a prop that might lower my RPM's when skiing but still provide low end grunt. They suggested that the 1479 would lower my RPM by a couple hundred. Same diameter and pitch as the 1285 but .150 vs .105 cup. Anyone have experience with the 1479 prop? I'm not sure if it's worth the $$ just for a small change. I do know I could sell my 1285 in a heartbeat.

What engine is in the boat? EDIT - Just saw the MCX engine. How much ballast do you typically run?

For surfing we run about 1500lbs.

To drop the RPM for skiing and still have decent low end while loaded I would suggest our 14.75 X 15.5 LC Splined XMP EDGE 4-blade.

I ran the 1479 for awhile. I have both a 1285 and 1479. Both worked good for surfing 3200-3300 Rpm with alot of ballast. At 12 mph wakeboarding not much difference between them. 1285 had a higher top speed by 3 mph with no weight in the boat. I am running the OJ TZ X-5 right now and I feel it's a better all around prop running Serious weight while surfing and wakeboarding. Fuel economy is up for sure

Your 1285 had a slightly higher top speed than the 1479? That seems to be at odds with what Acme indicated would happen for my boat.

Not much I think 43 mph and 40 was spread on them but I need to retest this year when I get a chance I am in a 4300 lb x-star mcx with a hotter cam so like 10-15 hp above stock

At 4000-5000ft elevation

Thanks Eric. Any idea what the approx. RPM gain would be at 34 mph running unweighted?
