Vibration

Took the boat out for the second time this summer and noticed a vibration at 2000-3000 rpm. I figured a bent prop, so switched to a new prop, problem still there. Any ideas of cause? Bad fuel, fuel pump, tranny problems? Anyone else had problems such as this?
Thanks Mitchell

Check for play in the thrust bearing. Could also be alignment.

check true-ness of drive shaft - if prop was struck - shaft may have some wobble to it.

I didn't believe it myself. Everyone said that you should be able to spin your prop with two fingers. I never could. On my last two boats I always had to use two hands. I figured that was the way it was. I also had a vibration at 2000 rpm, I pulled my prop shaft and it was bent!

After I had the shaft straightened back to .004, replaced cutlass bearings, installed the shaft and believe it or not I could spin it with two fingers! Vibration at 2000 rpm was gone.

I would look towards your prop shaft.

After some research I drained the gas tank added sea foam and fresh non-ethanol gas, the boat ran much better, I know I will be adding a ethanol treatment from now on. Thanks for your replies
