No Power Anywhere.... 82 S&S

Took my 1982 S&S out for the first run on the water today after good results on the hose over the past week. Running about 28 mph into a stiff wind and subsequent chop, the boat lost EVERYTHING. No power to the key switch, any of the gauges, or any of the switches to include the blower. Hit the electrical reset switch to no avail... Help...

Check the kill switch? Battery cables clean/tight? Check the ground cable at the block too.

Sounds like a battery cable/battery problem if you have no blower or anything working.

No kill switch installed. Good battery connections and ground cable connection to the block.

First make sure the battery is fully charged. Did the engine quit suddenly? I would take the battery into a parts store to have it tested. Could be the alternator, and the engine runs till the battery is dead.

Check inside the dash pod. There is a heavy gauge wire that goes to the amp gauge. Just a long shot but it may have vibrated loose.

Agree on loose wire. Check ground.

My initial thought was loose battery cable. Like the others have said, check the ground.

Heading to check out all the ideas you guys have thrown out since last night. Two more pieces to the puzzle: 1. AMP Gauge showed good charge right before it quit, tested the battery last week as good; 2. when i press the reset button on the circuit breaker on the back of the motor the amp gauge pegs at -40. Of the 3 wires that come off of the ignition switch the orange one that has an inline fuze goes to nowhere. Is that supposed to be connected to the ignition lead on the tachometer?

Had similar issue with my 87 a couple years ago. It was the ground going to my block, it looked fine but when I cut away the insulation it was a mess on the inside.

Orange wire from the ignition switch on my boat feeds back to the battery through the engine harness.
