Gages not working
1 Attachment(s)
This past saturday was the first time on the water with a new to us PS209 and the check engine light comes on, and the battery, fuel, oil, tach with hour display, and speedo have quit working. All was fine for 15 minutes or so, we goosed it got it up to 36 or so and after what might have been a mile the show started. Looked at the gages they were dead, check engine light came on, idled the boat off to the side and shut it off. Restarted it and nothing changed. Popped the engine cover, all the belts and hoses seemed to be in their proper place, very little water in the bilge. We put it on the trailer and drug it home.
So, it's back up to the dealer for them to look at. This is the first time out since I purchased it from them in Feb. Hope it's an easy fix, don't need to start throwing money at some ones old problem. No idea if this fix will be covered by the dealer. Research indicates it may be the MDC box which is 220 some dollars from or someplace like that.

Hey, but on the other side, the boat is awesome. LOTS of room for the kids to get away from each other:D. Kathy loves it, says this thing is huge (bigger is better....heh heh). Still gonna miss the PS190.

Def sounds like the mdc failed. Did you test drive it when you bought it, then the weather froze again.

No test drive with the lake froze here in Feb. Will have to see how this works out.

Sorry to hear about the bad first outing but the boat looks great and the family looks to be all smiles! On the bright side, maybe you got the only problem out of the way early in the season and I am sure the guys at BHM will take good care of you and get it figured out.

Again, looks great and congrats to you and the family.

Thanks JK! BHM service dept is 10 days out, gonna take it up tomorrow in case they can work it in sooner.

what year PS209. My 2003 197 had the same problem, my boat has separate cables to the battery big ones that run to the post for the starter and smaller ones that run to the thumb screw connections. The small ones became loose and I lost my gauges but the boat still ran, you my want to look into that real quick before you take to the dealer.

It's an 01. Double checked the cables last night, they were good and tight. Could not wiggle them. I have the double cables as well. Don't know what affect the dead Gage's will have on the boat running other than running out of fuel and burning up the fuel pump. Wish the solution was that simple.

Boat looks good!! Hope the issue is corrected easily and affordably.

Great looking boat z. I was going to suggest the loose wire terminal as well, but if it isn't that electronics are my weak point. I'm sure Chris at BHM will get you squre'd away.

Thanks CP & DD
I've read water gets forced up the pitot tube, if it doesn't get blown out at winterization it will stay in there? Next season more gets forced in there, on and on until the water is forced into the black box that controls the speedo tach oil water and volt Gage's. hopefully it's this box which has been common for the 99-01 models. I could swap it myself but I'm just a parts changer and don't know the function of the complete system, so I don't know where else to look.
