LT-1 Fuel Pump
I was able to remove my fuel pump this weekend to take a look at the screen and check for debris. There was a little bit of what appeared to be dirt or small particles, but not really that much of it. I was able to clear most of it, but there was still some in there. I was not very hopeful that this solved my 35 mph top speed issue. I put the pump back in and put the boat in and according to the GPS was able to hit 44.9mph. That works for me! I was just glad I was able to put off having to buy a new fuel pump. So for those with the LT-1 and having top speed issues, after changing the fuel filters, check the fuel pump inlet screen. Even if it has just a little bit of debris, it can hinder the performance.

I'm glad you have it fixed and for no $$.

Yes, fixing it with no money involved is always a plus. Thanks to anyone who may have suggested checking the fuel pump screen. BTW, it does not whine like it did before.

I believe I might have the same problem I know where the fuel pump is but where is the screen located did you just remove the pump?
Thanks |
Screen is located on the bottom of the fuel pump......

I check and clean my screen at the beginning and the middle of the season. These particular fuels pumps are not the most durable.
I think that they last a lot longer if you a) don't let the tank run dry and b) keep the screen clean so that they pump doesn't have an extra load to deal with:) |
I put one of these in line before fuel pump... http://www.napaonline.com/Catalog/Re...Dp%3d3%26N%3d0 - STX... did it .. easy to get a visual on dirt.. and no messing with bolts on the ;) inexpensive pump... put mine in near the floor (yes pictures in other thread) - works great..
