92 PS190 Carpet Progress

Ok, had to prove to Mikeg205 & SammyD that this project is happening:D

Just getting started but showing my progress so far.
Tank out and clean

Before shot: just getting started. Carpet looks much worse after it was pulled out!

Port Side Gone. Carpet mostly coming up without too many issues. Will make great templates.

Beautiful boat! That looks like a TON of carpet? Are you planning to do another 7 boats after yours is done?

Thanks! I did order extra, just in case....based on measurements, I needed about 21ish feet. I ordered 27'.

Thats alot of carpet. I actually replaced the carpet in my 205 last night. It ended up being a far easier job than i anticipated and it turned out better than i thought it would. I didnt do in the rear locker or under the bow/observers seat, just the parts that are visible when your in the boat. I ordered a 8.5x16 roll from Corinthian and i have lots left over.

Not sure if this is your first time doing boat carpet but it was mine. So a little advice, i found the glue to be MESSY. No matter how hard i tried i couldnt keep it off my hands and it doesnt come off very easy. I kept lots of rags handy to try and keep my hands clean. If i was going to do it again, i would buy a box of latex gloves and put on a new pair when i got glue on them.

I've been wanting to do this to my '93 190.

Maybe it's me but I think engine building would be easier and have been dreading the beat down of this project. I fear that the carpet will tear into 500 pieces and I won't be able to use it as a template. I also don't know how to get it under the observers seat. I have no clue tow to do under the bow.

The whole thing looks like a complete beat down. Getting to where you are is not a problem for me. I just have no clue how to install it.

But I sure HATE paying someone.

that is a great looking boat for sure

Ever thought about making the carpet snap in?

You could cut it all out to shape then take it somewhere and have it edged

I would love a snap in carpet in the boat

Thanks for the advise. I'm sure I will have lots left over but really not that concerned. It is my first time doing carpet, I was more concerned with the idea of jacking a big piece up and having to reorder. Ill do something with the extra.

I initially tossed around snap in. Not really sure what changed my mind.

I'm exactly the same way. I actually had called three installers because I figured I would get a wrinkle somewhere and drive me freak'n crazy. Two blew me off and the third came to the house.....COMPLETE NUT JOB. Now way he was touching my boat.
I know the guys said I ordered too much carpet but this guy said he needed a piece 12'x28'.
