X45 Tower Placement

1 Attachment(s)
I recently purchased a 2005 245 without a tower. I also purchased a new (2011) tower from MasterCraft and am ready to install it. This hull is the same as the X45 and the mounting location should be the same. I didn't think it would be this hard for me to find an X45 to measure but I haven't had any luck. If someone could help and measure from the back end of the window to the tower foot.... That will help me get started. Any other ideas or advice would be great thanks!

(Ps: This picture is not of mine but shows what I am referring too. From the back edge of the window to where tower foot is... Looks like 4-5 inches but an exact measurement would be awesome!!!)

have you looked under the gunwale? there should be mounting brackets there.

X2

You boat should have the brackets pre installed at the factory even without the tower.

I haven't had a chance to look because it is in storage. But even if it were to have the brackets... they wouldn't be right. My boat is a 2005 and the tower I have (Gere Marie Blade) wasn't put into production until 2007. In 2005 and 2006 they had that rolled bar tower.

I upgraded towers on my 06 X2 to an 09 tower and there were no mounting brackets under the gunwale.

I was under the impression that Mastercraft started glassing in backer plates in 2001 as a standard on all models

Yep what they said. My '01 209 has backing plates from the factory glassed into the underside of the deck for a future tower.

he's got a good point - the mounting brackets will be different depending on the year his 45 was produced, i didnt think about that. The 05-06 tower had a different mounting point and different length between bolts than the ZFT3. I'd highly recommend glassing in some backing plates for the new tower.

Well I got a hold of an X45 and the distance was exactly 4 inches from window to tower foot. I installed the back 2 feet first, attached the legs then attached the halo bar to the legs. Then I connected the front legs to the halo bar and where the fromt feet sat on the hull made my drill spots and bolted them down. It turned out perfectly and couldn't have gone any better. Took about a couple hours. Pretty stoked... For anyone in future that might need the same help.
