WTB: need some help and advise

Hello all.
I've been reading the forum for a while, longing and lusting for the boats that you all have. Finally, after much saving and negotiating with my wife, we are ready to buy our first boat, and I want it to be a Mastercraft.

Here is who we are:
-Family of 5 (three young daughters - pray for me)
-It will be kept in Lake Powell, Utah. For those who don't know about Powell, its a big lake. Sometimes the water is glass. Sometimes there are white-caps.

Here's what we're looking for:
- Budget of $30,000
- Has to be a V-Drive per my wife
- I grew up waterskiing, and I want to teach the girls to ski too.
- My wife and I have gotten into surfing in the last few years and love it.
- I don't really want a project boat. I want to spend time playing, not working.
- I am willing to drive for the right boat, but not across the country (nothing on the east coast or the northwest)

Here's what I've found so far:
- I've been in contact about this PS205v (http://www.erboats.com/pre_owned_det...R0&veh=3121289) and it looks good.
- Otherwise, I haven't seen much of anything...

Which is why I'm here. I'm here to pick your minds and use your resources to see if there's anything else I'm missing.

I appreciate your help in this - I know that you could be doing something else with your time, but if you're like me, this what you do for fun anyways.

Thanks.

a tad over your budget.

there was a nice x30 in okc but it just sold.

I emailed the dealership last week. Couldn't get to my price.
I've seen a few X30s out there though that are there. I haven't skied behind anything larger than an old 20' Maristar, so I'm nervous about the wake. I'd love the space of a 23' boat, but I'd had to get one and be disappointed every time I'm behind it. But I'm speaking out of ignorance.
That's why I need more help.

Sounds like you're in the market for an X30. With your budget, I'd say somewhere between an '01 and '04. You won't be disappointed. We love ours. Tons of room. Very versatile. Timeless styling(once the interior is redone lol).

You could get into a 2000-2003 X10 or Maristar 210 with tower for under 30k. Better wake than X30 for skiing. Lots of room and storage. Would handle chop better than 205

This^.
I've been on Powell in our PS190, 06 X2 and a X45. IMO a PS205v is a little shallow and flat for the big water. Not much more dead rise than the 190 and you had to drive the 190 very carefully once it got rough. And it beat your teeth out!
X10 or X30 is the ticket in your price range. Throw some ballast in the back to keep the nose up when the lake gets rough and it will ride pretty good.

I have an 03 x30 and couldn't be happier. We mainly wakeboard and surf but the previous owner only skied. Thus the reason I have like 12 skis in my garage that never get used.

With that said I don't know how it handles rough water. My only experience with rough water was not
Impressive. Had to keep the speed real low and we did okay.

You aren't going to find a used one that does everything as well as you want for $30K IMO unless it's an older X10. X30 will not make you happy on a ski (New model may but definitely not the old) and PS205 likely won't be big enough. Then again I don't know if I am reading into your expectations of ski wake properly.

Don't know what the ski wake is like but my neighbor has this hull (2003 X2) and takes it to Powell every year.
