weed traps

Hi, I am an Australian who just bought a x9 with the 330 hp motor. Unfortunatly we ski on a tidal river which gets weed & small debris in it. Any suggestions for a weed trap to catch the debris before the impeller would be much appreciated. Thanks

If you do get one keep in mind that it's plastic with an O ring and it ain't got to be as tight as ya can get it, just snug.

Hope this helps cuz ;)

Jsut make sure the o-ring is lubed so it seals well after you clean it out.

many thanks

Thanks for the input. After searching a bit further I found an 1 1/4" inline filter that we used on our other boats, which also we can use to flush the motor with a simple tap fitting. After I have fitted this I shall post some pictures. Thanks again. corta.

On my previous boat I had a filter mounted similarly but none on my current boat. One comment I have heard along the traps is that filters should be placed after the raw water pump and not before (not that easy mind you). Apparently the rubber impellor, raw water pumps don't like being restricted on the suction side. This makes a little sense to me and I just wondered what everyones thoughts were on this please??
