Can you cut out the Ice chest in a 97 ProStar 205

I have a 97 pro star 205 that has the Built in ice chest. I was wondering if anyone has cut that out because I'm want to put it fat sack down in place of that. If any one has would you let me know how hard it was and is it Worth doing.

I'd be interested in seeing how much space would be there without the cooler i.e. how far toward the bow is usable. That cooler, other than as a trash can, is worthless and it would be great to get some hidden ballast. I think you should do it and report back :D

Or a ski locker...I know I am old skool but then so is my boat!

I think in 98 and 99 it was an option to have a ski locker. That Ice chest is a Waste.

I started this thread to see what people actually use it for...

Realize this is pretty old. I have a 97 205 PS and am debating on cutting the bow wall of this floor cooler in hopes of pushing a slim sac forward under the walkway of the bow. Anyone have previous experience as to any obstructions in this area before I go and cut this thing open? Anyone ever see any pics floating around of a 97 skeleton?

Did some exploring today on my 97 PS 205. Drilled a 2 inch hole on the front bow wall of the floor cooler. 2"s of foam and then you hit a wall. Think that's about as far as I'm going with this. I'll live with ballast bags under the bow seats and keep my glorified trash can in the floor. Going to epoxy it back up and call this one as not worth the time and effort.
