Fuel gauge problems, 2005 Prostar 205
I have a strange one on my 05 Prostar 205. Fuel gauge stays on full until level gets very low then it moves all at once to just about the empty reading. I have changed the sending unit and also put in a new fuel gauge just to eliminate that question. The strange thing is I can unscrew the sending unit and hold it in a few up and down gas levels and it actually shows a reading on the fuel gauge but when I screw it back in place it goes back to full and stays there etc. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated........

Does it need a grounding wire by chance??

Gas guage will read full until under 1/2'tank because sender is at the back of the tank and due to how the boat sits in the water, it takes quite awhile for the sender to read anything but full. When I first took out our boat, I thought the same as you- even took off the fuel guage wire to check and it moved from full to empty. Once I had the center floor up, I realized based on the gas tank shape why.

I have an 05 X2. Same hull, same issue.

Thanks....the only issue on those replys is the gauge worked perfectly from 05 to this summer then during the first time out it stayed full until gas was almost empty then decided to work. When not in use the boat is on a level lift and the gauge still doesn't read any differently.
