In my last boat I had a Huge Huge stereo. I am over the huge huge stereo now with this boat. But, I want it to be just a little louder. Has any body just amped the factory speaks? if so how did they sound? I have the component 6.5's. I wouldnt mind replacing them over the winter, but I dont think I will be able to find a set of components that will fit where the factory tweeters are because of the awkward size. anybody have ideas suggestions comments??

I mean as long as whatever your upgrading to is same size or bigger it shouldn't be aproblem. I just bought all new JL 7.7" w/ component to replace the 6.5 non components that were in there. Installer will have to make some cuts but mine didn't bat an eye about doing it. I'd go with the JL m class 7.7 components. I know they are $440 a pair but they are worth it and would be about all you need if you don't plan to run a sub.

I had a set of 12" p-2s with a 500.2 amp on it in my last boat, it was way way loud. I am over it, I was debating on putting 7.7's inbecasue they are a awesome speak all around. But the rear location underneath the seat is not big enough for that speaker.

go to JL's website and get exact dimensions before determining that. And there is no rule that you can't put 7.7 somewhere up front that does fit and 6.5's where you are speaking of. Just whatever you do go JL amps and JL speakers. all m class not the mx class and you will be very happy. The 7.7's have better mid bass than the 6.5's.. If 4 speakers a M4/400 amp is plenty
