x45 question
I am on a quest to find a nice used x45. I found one the other day with a MCX350 engine in it. What do you all think about this size engine in this boat? Its a 2010 x45 with only 65 hours on it. It comes with a transferable warranty so I am not worried about the engine. I want to make sure I would be happy with the size of the engine.
Thanks for your advice. I hope to be a part of the Mastercraft team soon. Mark |
If you don't load it with a lot of ballast it will be ok. If you add a few thousand pounds you'll want a bigger motor
|
For that size boat do you have to use all of the ballast? They are advertising it has 1500 lbs of ballast available. For the X45 owners out there do you use your ballast every time you go out?

If you want to surf you will put 2500lbs+ in it. You can wake board with stock ballast

I have an 07 with the 400HP LY6 and my buddy had an 06 with the 350 in it.
I use less gas and have noticeably more power. If you drive to the party spot and tie up should be no problem. If you are going to use it to ride, I personally would not look less than the 400hp. I could tell enough of a difference driving his I would never want it. |
Thanks Cobra Rob. I was thinking the boat was underpowered. The seller is upgrading from a 2010 to a 2011 and I bet he is going to order a bigger engine this time. I will keep looking.

The surf wake without factory and added ballast isn't where it needs to be, even for a boat of this size. Good luck with your search. |
