Guys, I was trying to trade my galvanized trailer for a black one. I didn't get any takers so I bought a new one. I'm selling my galvanized for $2000 OBO.

What's this trailer worth
 

I might sell this trailer and buy a new one is it worth $2500? That would be the least I would take.

As a fellow owner of a galvanized trailer, the only drawback of it is the appearance. Have you considered having yours painted or powdercoated? It might be cheaper than buying a new one.

I have but the estimate I got was $1000. I found a new trailer for $5K and I can just swap my boat from trailer to trailer and not worry about storing it while mine is out for painting. If mine is worth $2500 then I would have $3500 in it. Might as well spend $5K and not have the hassle.

The one big positive if I keep the galvanized is no rust ever.

I can understand your frustration. My trailer is going on 18 years old, and still looks like it rolled off the assembly line. In my opinion a painted galvanized trailer is one of the ultimate options (Aside from an aluminum trailer). I seriously considered having mine painted a few years ago, but then decided against it for similar reasons to yours.

If mine doesn't sell then I'm painting it for sure over the winter. Maybe so new wheels as well. Might as well go all out.

I just sold a 2000 205 tandem trailer for $1800 in 2 days on craigslist.....we found it was a better deal to order new from boatmate...all new vs just paint.....fwiw...the cheapest quote I got was $1200 for powdercoat, that did not include stripping the trailer of wiring, breaklines, wheels, bearings, fenders etc.....we decided it was not worth the $ or hassle. Our dealer stored the boat until new trailer was delivered.

dang i wish i would have known. ive been surching for a trailer. i can get a new one for 3500 from the dealer here in texas. granted its the no thrills version. so i have been looking to buy one for 1750 of so. i have a 2001 x-10 if any one hears of one thats no in new york or canada! lol
