Custom Gromment/Washers (PICS)
10 Attachment(s)
I finally decided to solve a long term problem I've had with the plastic breaking out that holds the throttle panel to the boat. I'm sure I'm not the only one that has this issue. Over time, the plastic just gives way and breaks making the panel fall out. I've seen people put larger flat washers to "fix" the problem but thoese just didn't look right to me. So, I took some measurements, had a buddy mock it up on ProEngineer in 3D and sent the file to our shop where another buddy made a model of my new gromment using a 3D printer. Our new 3D printer is great for prototyping small parts very fast. Once the dimensions were all dialed in, I had my buddy make 3 parts out of aluminum on the screw machine (large lathe).
Let me know what you think. |
Nice work!

very nice. don't suppose you have an extra set ready to sell? maybe with the outer surface machined to match the dash? i ended up layering the back of the OEM surface with JB Weld to try to fix the sagging on mine.

Nice!
I need some of those to fix mine. |
I have the plastic model that I used for the fit check and could probably dig up the dimensions that these where made to if anyone wants to make some. I talked to my buddy who made these and he said to make them quickly, one would have to program a CNC screw machine that autofeeds round bar stock.

prostar205,
If you decide to make any more, you have 5 sets sold already. :) I'm hoping. |
