John

They use that for the bugs..

betsy&david Harrison 08-18-2005 02:32 PM

Not too many skeeters in Bako...we have mosquito fish that eat the larv a in the lake. I could have used it at Britton though. I'm very surprised I didn't get West Nile because of all the bites I got. I even used spray everyday. At the end I found the only one that works for me...an Avon product that someone had and was nice enough to spray the holy begebers on of me. Sheesh, I think the skeeters designed a slalom course on my ankle..boat guides and balls, it's all there and in line. :eek3:

Avon Skin so Soft. Sounds gay, works great. First time I ever tried it was at a construction site in a marsh. I thought the guys were joking with me, until I actually tried it.

betsy&david Harrison 08-18-2005 02:44 PM

I have heard that works but this was actually a bug repellant they put out now.

SteveO 08-18-2005 03:13 PM

Betsy,

Looks like you guys had a great trip from all the new pics. Awesome way to start to close out summer

Cary K. 08-18-2005 03:15 PM

They may have multiple kinds now (my better half would know more about it) but they do make a SSS bug spray, as well as the regular liquid oil/lotion/stuff.

BriEOD 08-19-2005 08:15 AM

Nice shot of the mud bath...very funny!!

Madison who will turn 7 in September, got up yesterday both on a rope off the boom twice and then deep water without help 3 times. I had left for work this AM and mom called to tell me that Madison was really sore.

SteveO 08-22-2005 12:55 PM

Another shot off the boom

SteveO 08-22-2005 12:57 PM

One on her deep water run

SteveO 08-22-2005 12:57 PM

Last one from a proud dad.

MarkP 08-22-2005 01:10 PM

That Rocks SteveO!

Funny how they just pop up and ski away:headbang:

8" wide skis and 75# kid -- talk about a great weight to displacement ratio. Oh to be young again!

Your kids are always your kids, regardless of age, right?

Here's my son on our 2004 Mapple...

Here's a fun one... my son's friend is riding on a tube, about 10 feet in front of my son, taking pictures with a Canon camera in an underwater case. I took this picture from the boat.

MarkP 08-22-2005 02:53 PM

Hey Neil:wavey:

Great shot of the kid..

SteveO 08-22-2005 02:59 PM

Neil, great shots. I have heard of the tube photo trick. I told Madison she has to master her ski's before I get her a wakeboard. As she was making her first pass, I told my ski buddy that I gaurenteed that after she was back in the boat within 5 minutes, she would bring up the wakeboard. While it wasn't the first thing she said, it only took her about 2 minutes. Maybe I have the next Dallas Friday.

SteveO -- yep -- get her the board, but make her promise to keep skiing too... it's amazing how quickly you get 'rusty' if you don't keep skiing as well as wakeboarding.. It takes a lot of boat gas to create a Dallas Friday...

MarkP -- thanks... we had a great summer -- now have 460 hours on my 2002! Other than the Perfect Pass is acting weird (fluctuates), the MC ran great!

I drove for a learn to ski our club put on last Sat. Two boats and 28 skiers over 4 hours ages 5 to about 35. Almost a 100% sucess rate. Even driving 8 mph with a 60# kid on the boom becomes easier when you see them smile as the get up for the first time.:)

I can't forget my daughter. She set the family record on the wakesurfer - a solid 15 minute ride (my legs give out long before then.. oh, to be young..)

BriEOD 08-22-2005 03:30 PM

Neil!! :wavey: How have you been? Any Marathons this summer?

BTW, how old is your daughter. With all do respect my friend that looks like a better shot for the swimsuit thread than the kids thread!! :purplaugh

NeilM 08-22-2005 03:38 PM

Brian, it's been a great summer! I did 2 half-marathons and a couple of 10-K's as well... been too busy (or no internet at the lake) for TT or much of anything else. The wife and I are training for our first full marathon (Honolulu in December), so I'm feeling pretty rough (I-T band) at the moment.

.. daughter is now 22... 'not sure I have any pics she'd allow me to put in the swimsuit thread, but I'll look...

I've caught up on your baby pics and threads -- great to see things are going well for you.

cheers,

NeilM

Neil--I that sounds great! I just climbed off the treadmill and am sitting here dripping on the laptop. My wife tried to run the Honolulu Marathon on year while we were living there. She made it about 3/4 of the way and had to walk the rest. She didn't get out of bed the rest of the time she was their. Let me know if you go and I'll give you some good spots to see/stay away from.

Wow, 22 you're getting to be an old man!! :purplaugh

dmac 08-22-2005 03:55 PM

Neil - those are great shots. The backdrop is awesome in all of them.

The smile tells the whole story. This makes me happier than running 38. He's running about 45 off here.

MarkP 08-23-2005 10:23 AM

Great shot. BIG smile! How old??

Someone once told me that growing old is mandatory, growing up is optional...;) I choose not to grow up...

Triathalon

Here's a pic of the Kid's Triathalon that we put on this weekend. All of the kids had a great time - sportsmanship was great. And best of all no tears!
This is a picture of the "older' kids swimming in from the boat.

peason 08-29-2005 01:32 PM

Triathalon continued

Here are a couple of more shots of the 2 younger boys swimming in with the other kids following and cheering them on!

They all had a great time!

BriEOD 08-29-2005 02:44 PM

That's great Peason! It's probably something they won't soon forget. Plus, it's nice to see some kids outside "playing" instead of eating french fries and playing PS2.

DanC 08-30-2005 12:17 AM

Peason, that's a hoot! Hope you got some video of that.
Last year one of the moms threw down the gauntlet by claiming herself the quad-athalon champion. She did slalom, wakeboard, kneeboard, and tube, all in the same run. Drove the young kids into a frenzy trying to beat her.
