Another Airguide speedometer thread

I am in the process of cleaning my Airguide speedometers on my '77 S&S. They both have been allowing water in and I am cleaning out and neutralizing the the light corrosion with rust reformer primer. I want to keep the water out in the future and am thinking about using a little clear silicone on the fiber-like gaskets that go on either side of the glass bezel. My concern is that the silicone will harm the black face of the gauge. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

I also would like to replace the black face with a white face. Anyone know where I might find such an item without having it custom made?

Have you talked to these people, http://www.airguide.com.au/index.php?

I'm the www.airguide.com.au site person.

You can't buy those face plates new any more. If you find somebody who can do a nice duplicate face plate please let me know.

If you need a new mechanism, your speedos look very similar to the newest ones and I suspect the same mechanism will fit. i.e. diapraghm, adjuster etc. I can't promise though.

I can't help much with the old speedos as I've never had one apart. My first was a 1990 airguide which still goes great today - but it is the same 2025 model I have on my site.

Thanks ghind. I didn't think there would still be anything available but you can't find out without asking. My speedometers work just fine, other than taking in too much moisture when out in the rain. For now I'm just cleaning and repainting the needles. Perhaps a good vinyl shop could do an overlay?

I'm thinking more towards a spray on gasket material vs. the silicone to coat the fiber spacers. I would never be able to get the silicone consistent enough not to cause more leaks. Anyone have any great thoughts on this?

We can re-screen these face plates.

Sound like a great off-season project. My gauge face is black. I would like to go white. Got a ballpark price on doing the pair?
