Best rudder & prop for '05 PS 197 w/MCX?

Looking for some insight from the members out there on the Team Talk message board. I have a 2005 Prostar 197 w/ the 350 hp MCX motor. It has the stock rudder and prop. I know a lot of people have swapped out the rudder and prop to improve the wake and driving (tracking) characteristics.

What is the hands down best combination of rudder and prop?

What kind of skiing do you do???

Great question, I should have mentioned that. I am skiing at 28' off at 34 MPH. I also have a lot of young kids and family for the standard recreational stuff. I have several serious skiing friends and we get out twice a week or so.

I think that you find many folks with 197's who are very happy with the Acme CNC three bladed prop.

What transmission is in the boat? What size is the current prop? What do you not like about the performance of that prop?

My '05 197 had the '06 rudder upgrade and an OJ 13.5 x 17.5 prop. (from memory - something very close to that) I couldn't have been happier with the set-up.

I think all these threads end in something like, talk to Eric at OJ props...

Pretty much.:D Even when I bought my X14, MYMC referred me to Eric about a 2nd (spare - but supposedly better performance than the original) prop. He was developing a new one just for that boat.

I apologize in advance for the threadjack but I would be very interested in hearing about what Eric comes up with for the X14. Please post a review when you have has a chance to try it out.

Now, back to the thread....

Rudder

I have an 02 Pro Tournament 197 and just upgraded the rudder this spring to the new style and found the boat to steer and track much better! This investment was worth every penny!
I have had 4 different props on my boat and have settled on a Acme 4 blade with a 19 pitch as I have a LQ9 (385hp) and 1.56:1 Powerslot tranny.
This has been a great skiing and playing setup.:D
