Powering Rev8s
So im adding a pair of Rev8s to my tower which currently has a pro485 on it. I was planning on using the 4 stereo channels of my syn 6 bridged to to power the pair... that would do 200x2 @ 4ohms... and then purchase a smaller 4 channel amp to run the speakers in the boat... Will that be enough for the Rev8s which I know are power hungry?

Any cheap(er) amps that will do over 200x 2 @ 4ohms I should look into? footprint size is also an issue as there is not much room?

i would go more generous with your power supply to those guys... i have 4 rev8's on my tower and powering them with a syn2 in parallel getting 175 a piece. I also have a friend powering just one pair with a JL750.1 MHD amp and his sound much, much better than mine. I would seek to give them between 250-300 RMS per rev

heh well 750.1 is out of my budget =(

Im also assuming I can wire the pods together and achieve a 2 ohm load? or should I run 2 sets of cables?

I think i found an amp...

300x2 @ 4ohm bridged. Ive had great luck with my audiopipe amps in both marine and car applications and it's also $117!

300rms should be enough...

For what is is worth, I have done extensive (hours) of research on whether to buy the Rev8's or the Rev10's, and how to properly power them to get the most out of the speaker in potential. I went with the Rev8's because one, I just have a tiny Tristar, and two, because the 10's are the size of basketballs and would have looked funny. While the JL750 is a nice amp and $$$, I went with the Syn4 bridged in mono to give 400 watts true to each speaker. You bought the nice speakers, might as well save up and get proper power to them to really get the most out of them....I found my Syn4 lightly used on Ebay for $340 shipped, can't beat that.....

I have a Syn6 and i really like wetsounds, but I will say that my syn6 has been sent back many more times than the other 2 audiopipes i have in the boat. I understand the mentality of paying $1000 for speakers and getting a good amp, but i was lucky enough to get the rev8s for about 1/3 of the msrp... it was more of a well i dont need any of this but the price is too good.

For $117 if the amp sucks (which im sure it wont as most audiopipe stuff has been bench marked to put out the rms power) ill look into other options.

I also seem to go through amps rather quickly, luckily wetsounds has repair for free my syn6 everytime... I order the audiopipe and will see how it performs...

I think everything should be absurdly loud since ... 600x1 to a pro485 and 600 to the pair of rev8s 60x4 to the JL m770 in the boat, and 1000 to the sundown sa12 subwoofer in the bow

I have a syn4 powering my rev10s. It's a great amp, but I think there are lots of other options. There are lots of cheap, full range class D amps out there now. I would probably go with something like this for rev8s. 300Wx2 at 12v, 450Wx2 at 14.4v, full range class D, $190.

that PPI amp is def a nice contender. Im running a PPI eq in the boat right now, they make good products.

I couldn't find much info on the audiopipe, if it's class D, I might go with it. If not, I would get the ppi.
