Where to run alternator wire 84 stars and stripes? Putting in stereo

I'm putting in a stereo and I'm going to upgrade the original 35 amp alternator and will be putting in a 105 amp from DB electrical (after reading on here for a bit this seems to be the one everyone goes with) and everyone is saying upgrade the wire to 4 gauge. I can't seem to figure out where the wire needs to be ran, I thought people where saying it needed to be ran to the breaker but when I follow the wire from the alternator it runs back toward the dash somewhere.

If your talking about the charge wire just run it to the battery or the battery lead on the starter, should fix ya up nice. Love your s&s btw!

Not sure running it to the starter is correct. I would think running it to the battery or the Starter solenoid would be ok. Same terminal on the Solenoid that the lead from the battery goes to.

So I would be fine just running the charge wire directly from the alternator to the starter? Where does it run now?

Here is the 351 wiring diagram, hope it helps.

1. Find the positive cable from the Battery.
2. connect the wire from the Alternator to either end of the cable you found in step 1.

I just installed one on my 1990 last month from DB Electrical. You will likely also have to drill out the mounting hole on the alternator a bit larger for the existing bolt to fit thru it.
