Guys Im not trying to sell these boats. I did this as a comparison of price as to what you guys in the USA pay for boats around the same vintage. Just saw an X-55 they want $140K AUD its on the same site.

If you feel you need to move it no problems just thought it might be a good eye opener as to why so many aussies buy boats from the USA

Cheers Jay

Crazy. Looks like that last guy spelled 1988 TriStar wrong too!

It's like that in Canada too. Boats can be picked up from the States much cheaper than at home in most cases.

The biggest problem is all of these boats are about 10 years old and it is such a gamble to buy a boat from the US with out you seeing it yourself.
9 times out of ten it would be ok but there are some sharks out there. We do get ripped here big time and the locally produced Malibu's hold there value, but hey we don't all wont to all be sheep and but them.
Once you join the MC family I think you get hooked.....

We could fly to the US to check the boat and make sure it's ok, buy it and ship it back and STILL end up paying less than buying it locally!:mad:

Cheers,

Chris

That was the case 18mnths or so ago but no longer is there a real benefit based on current exchange rates. Though unless you find a killer deal in the US bringing a boat over to Aus just works out with some savings, Again depending on what model/ year you are looking at
Im saying this as an X2 2008/09 is borderline based on my searches

Best savings will be for anything you can put into a shipping container (i.e. 190) as soo as you have to go RORO you are paying a lot more for your shipping

but even with the exchange rate your still better off buying from the USA. My local MC dealer didn't even know MC made an outboard. They shall remain nameless. but you could work out who it is.

As a point of reference, the conversion rate as of May 9 is 1 Australian dollar buys .93 USD. So that 140K AUD would be $131,157 USD.

I agree, for the right boat, you are still better off. This time next year there will be heaps of prostars for sale at the right price.

Local dealer selling an 07 X2 for 67k, in the US similarly based 07 X2 50k, as this would be RORO freight plus gst etc would land around close to 70k plus trailer mods another $1500, just doesn't add up, but as mentioned gotta be the right boat at the right price
