I understand your the man to ask when it comes to Indmar problems. I just bought an 07 X45 with a 6.0 has 400 hours on it. The first day I have had it I ran it about an hour or so then stopped for a while to swim for about 20 min. When I started it back up It ran rough then went into limp home mode and had check engine come on. I started to limp back to the marina but being a considerable distance I shut it down (even thought the girlfriend suggested not to) and it wouldn't start back up. It would turn over start up then die right away. I had initially thought it was a fuel pump issue since that seems to be a common problem so the dealership I bought it from sent me a new one. They didn't send the gasket or adapter so since I needed to order those and had a full tank of gas I figured the best thing to do would be just to take it to the dealer since I was getting the check engine before I got into changing the pump out and If they thought it was the pump just let them change it. I took it to Boat House Marine Tri Lakes in Ohio that was highly recommended for service. They are two hours away but that is basically how far any Mastercraft dealers are from the Pittsburgh, Pa area. The boat is currently there and I talked to them this morning and they told me that it is throwing a bunch of codes and are stumped at the moment. They said the pump was reading just fine so they didn't put the new one in as of yet and that they were going to have to call Indmar on Monday to see if they have any insight on the problem. They have never seen an issue like this on a 6.0 before. Now I know it would be way more helpful if I could tell you what codes it is throwing but I failed to ask when I was on the phone and they are closed until Monday. My question for you is have you ever run into anything like this and possibly have any suggestions I may pass along or have them look into. They told me that hopefully it was one thing and it could be triggering all the other codes if not they would have to address them one at a time. I am just a nervous wreck about it since I have just bought the boat and have only had it on the water once on my own since purchase and prior to that it was fine. I am hoping to not have a huge issue or service bill since I have spent a good bit of money for the boat purchase. I purchased it in South Carolina and am in Pennsylvania so its not as easy as having the place I purchased it from take care of the problem. I was happy they sent me a fuel pump since they are quite pricey and since it was a used boat they don't exactly carry a warranty plus it ran fine down there. I have read some people having the stock Mastercraft cruise control causing some problem or a ground issue some where which maybe something giggled loose or became pinched with the long trip home???? At this point I'm just guessing and by no means am a boat technician.

I have an 87 Pro Star with a Indmar 351 and I can fix pretty much anything on the since there are no computers or electronics. Thank goodness I have kept that boat- In almost 30 years that has never once given me a lick of trouble (Knock on wood). I'm very fortunate I still have a boat to use but it sucks with the new one in the shop. Since I'm a ford guy I blame it on the fact that the new one is a gm motor and my ol' reliable pro star is a ford, lol. I apologize for being long winded and possibly not having enough info to go on but any input would be more than appreciated. Thank you in advance!

So when it acts-up, if you stop and go back to the beginning and start through the course again it does the same thing? I agree with the others on the thread. You may have to find a dealer and have them do a Diacom recording of the run so we might be able to see what is going on. Sounds like it is running out of fuel but if the pressure is holding at 58-62 PSI it should be OK.

    Hey Engine Nut,

My 1993 LT1 has the original spark plug wires. While they look fine, the must be overdue for a change.

    What do you recommend?

    Thanks,

    Engine Nut,

Please give me your take on motor oil viscosities that you prefer for the LT-1 (97 Prostar 190). Owner's manual suggests 20W-50 racing oil. I have always used Mobil-1 15W50 but it is getting hard to find and I may change to another viscosity if others are ok for the LT-1.

Also, which oil filter do you prefer for the LT-1. Once upon a time a MC dealer sold me an AC PF-25 filter but I have never really known is this is the best one for the LT-1.

Thanks for taking the time to contribute so many great posts.... I have read a lot of them.

    Hi there,
I am hoping you can help me. I have a 2004 MC 197 with a GM Vortec TBI. When it is warmed up and idling in between ski sets it "stumbles" every once in a while. It almost stalls. It seems to run fine otherwise although I do notice some unburned gas in the water sometimes when it starts (hot). I have changed all the ususal tune up parts, had it on the Scanner (no codes), checked the Engine Temp. Sensor, run lots of Fuel injection cleaner, etc. I'm suspecting the Engine Temp. Sensor is faulty sending a bad reading to the ECM intermittently. Any ideas?

    Thanks

    Tom

Hey I was wondering if you would be able to help me out. I am building a motor for my boat. (04 x-star) and was wondering if you knew the cam specs on the stock mcx350? I Am debating on running the stock cam or going with a little bigger one. Am pretty sure it is a zz4 crate motor cam but would like to know for sure. I found some numbers on the oe cam but can't seem to come up with any matches.
    Thanks

I have an X15 with MCX and the starboard manifold overheated causing a small fire at the exhaust hose clamp which overheated the motor. MC is covering under warantee but I'm wondering if this is a common problem and what precautions I should take in furture.
