Hey there...apologies for messaging you on this issue, but based on my TT research, you seem to be a bit of an LT1 water pump guru. And you've been an awesome help on previous issues....So thanks! I've attached a link to a thread I recently posted on this issue.
I've just discovered a very small water leak that appears to be coming from the weep hole at the rear of the water pump. I received a couple of replies suggesting that it was either the weep hole on the circulating pump or a failed seal at the raw water pump.
A couple of questions if I may, and please forgive my ignorance - Whilst I'm pretty handy with a spanner, I only know what I know, and whilst I'm prepared to tackle most things, I'd hate to damage this beast of a motor.
What's the difference between the circulating pump and the raw water pump (or is it just different terminology?)
Given I'm located in Australia where parts are few and far between, what's my best option for fixing the problem (re-build kit or new pump)
What are the risks of not fixing this immediately? ie: Is it something I can monitor over summer and fix in the off season or will that likely result in catastrophe? Is it an issue that may result in total pump failure at any given time?
Also, you'll see in my thread that I'm still getting low engine temp reading at the gauge despite replacing both thermostats and temp senders. Any ideas?
