nope, no cost other than your time. My wife usually files first protest online, then they schedule a review board hearing. She gets comps (comparable value of similar homes that have sold recently, have a friend that's a realtor???) and takes in. She usually takes pictures (usually as bad as possible views) and takes to the hearing. Often, they will reduce, but sometimes you have to go in for a second hearing (take even more evidence).

Quick question - was there any cost incurred with challenging your property tax appraisal? We're in Pflugerville (Travis County) and I'm looking to do the same as I think they've over valued my home.

sorry, just now saw your message. A Sargent Shane Prewitt of the Forney PD is leading the investigation from there ... small enough town you might know him??? anyway, some guy from Kaufman (sp?) had traded a ford truck for it and he planned on restoring. When he started trying to apply for a blue title, that requires local sheriff's office to check out VIN and stuff before signing off the application. That was when they found it was stolen, deputy called tow company (Buster's) to come impound, then Forney PD took over investigation.

Wow! Glad you got it back. We live in Forney. Looks like Busters Auto got it. Any details on how they found it? Police impound, abandoned, etc?
