Hi--I saw your windshield post on Team Talk. I have a '79 S & S with a cracked windshield. Did you ever get a replacement? If so, would you be kind enough to tell me from whom you bought it, and what it cost? Any other advice on windshield replacement?
I've never performed the task, myself, but have read a thread or two in which the process is explained in fairly comprehensive detail. The most important things to consider, from what I understand, is as follows:
1. Choosing the proper lumber
2. Doing a solid, thorough job of fiberglassing - slow and easy does it to ensure that you don't get any air pockets
3. Making sure you don't let the boat sag, etc, from removing the existing stringers.
I know this isn't much information, but search the site and you should find plenty of info. Just takes a little digging. I've found the the iBoats forum (at www.iboats.com) is also a really good site for such information.
Hey I say your post about your windshield at thought I would ask you a question. I have a 1978 master craft that needs to have the stringers replace do you have any experience replacing stringer? Or do you know anyone with experience that would be will to lend me some advice. thanks
Hey there 78! Would love to be of any assistance That I can.
My bilge blower is also on top of the tank. When I got the boat out to begin my minor restoration project, the blower motor was seized. Ordered a new one off of eBay and installed it and it works fine now.
Feel free to contact me any time. I live in Houston and my phone number is 281-788-3484. I will not likely answer a number I don't recognize, so text first or leave message and I wil call you back.
Hello- I have a 78 and live in the Austin area. Was wondering if my son and I could pick your brain sometime. We'd really appreciate any help. In particular about the bilge blower placement. Ours is on top of the gas tank.
