Hey MakeMineaS&S, I hear ya on always needing more power! Overkill is just enough! From what I've learned here, the GT40 heads bring it to about 285hp (HO level) and the GT40Ps bring it to closer to 300. The GT40P's which are a head from a 302 which I guess are the same as the GT40s but ported, thus the "P". The P's need the mounting stud holes drilled out for the larger mounting bolts on the 351, but other than that they bolt right up. Then add the edelbrock performer intake manifold for about an additional 15hp. With the "P"s the result was incredible over stock. I have a 14X20 4 blade prop and with 2 people in the boat I run 47mph at WOT (GPS verified). And the improvement in throttle response is huge. I think with the 1:1 if it is propped right, you should do just as well if not better.

As far as difficulty, its not bad at all. A buddy and myself did everything in one night. Took the boat out of the water that evening and had it back in the water for shakedown runs in the morning.
