Only 1 that I've ever seen. That's why I keep most of the ski above the water. ;) Fortunately, that picture was taken nowhere near where my pal, Al, lives. You've never seen something leave so fast when he saw the boat coming his direction.

But thank you for helping me spread the news that there are alligators where I ski. Don't anyone come to my ski spot. Gator will eat you! :)

Ha! When we saw that thing, swimming away (all 8 feet of him), I looked at my brother-in-law and said, "You're up, dude!"

We were about 300 yards from the spot where we first saw that thing before he finally agreed to get in the water.

Truth be told, I'm always more worried about water mocosins than alligators.

Have noticed several in the creeks around here in the past, so I don't ski in the creeks!!! :D Just another reason I love it here...snakes stay in the creeks and mountains and I get the lake for the most part...........seems fair to me!!

We got out on the river this morning. Recently borrowed my mom's old telephoto lens that will work with my minolta 5D. Switched to the rapid fire setting and just held the button down. I was amazed at how many it would take in a row before writing (in "fine" mode). When my father in law was skiing, my wife was shooting frames and I heard her squeeze off 15 frames before the camera finally filled the cache. I'd post one now, but her computer is having usb issues of some sort or another.

Pullout for the gates......

I will say one thing about Malibu's............ THEY ARE LOUD!! Just goes to show you theres less glass and sound deadening material in them. The Bu' you could very clearly hear pulling the course all day. Once the switched to the SN196 (what you see hear) you could tell. The SN you flat out couldn't hear whereas the Bu' LXI sounded like a drag car. Sadly the TT197 never made it off the ramp while I was there. (not because of problems except that the lake is owned by some bu' lovers  )

from the angle of the picture it looks like my kind of slalom course

5 point buoys (closest to the boat path)
10 point buoys (little farther out)
20 point buoys (regular)

just ski what you can and tally the points after the run

I might be on to something!!!!

I am skiing on an Oar. Just get up with the paddle in your hand and then lay it down adn drop out of the ski.

Erk probably knows how to do it. It is actually very easy to do.

See, now that part is where I may have the problem...

Of course, I just have to try it now :D
(what size oar? 67" or 68"? do you go wide part forward or handle forward? where do you put your foot/feet?)

I go wide part forward. To be honest I'm not really sure what size paddle it is. I know it is pretty small. As long as it is average size it should be alright. I am 6'3" 200+ and the small oar works fine. You can either drop it down or actually another way is to have a ski on your dominant foot forward adn then have the paddle in a deep water start.

Have the driver start to idle and place your heel at the part where the wide part meets the shaft. Have the driver idle for a little bit and then have him slowly accelerate. While this is happening 95% of your weight needs to be with the ski. You need some weight to keep the oar underneath you. Once you are out of the water the driver can speed up and the ski can be dropped.

Any more questions?

Im sure Erk has some input becuase his brother should know how to do this.

*Edit. While in the idle position the paddle should be just under the surface. Your front foot can then be placed over your back foot. The front foot does not have to be placed right away either. Some people never put it down. Try both ways but the deep water is easier for me.

A buddy of mine can get up on oars. It's pretty cool. I have it on video. He does it in the ski shows. Paddles face forward, the handles act like rudders. The driver has to keep just the right amount of tension on the line while he gets positioned. A good driver can get him up first try, it took me 3 tries to pull him up! He's thinking about putting some non-slip stuff on them to keep his feet from slipping off - that's the hardest part.

That is on a lake called Skipping Stone in Allendale. Jodi Fisher, Chris Sullivan, and maybe even Wade Cox has skied there. Feedback is always good.

Unfortunately, you need to know someone to ski there, and my buddy has moved off the lake.

NO1, mot much man. Just chilling my knee. I fell hard yesterday and both feet released from the bindings(first time ever) and the ski hit my knee. I had a bump on it when I got back in the boat. So I hit it with ice immediatly. It was near the end of the day anyhow. We came back home and ate pizza. the knee dont really hurt, just a bump. Its better today. I am still chilling it. the worst part about the fall was I hit face first at high speed, and the force of the water blew my eyelids right open and I got a high speed eye flush. MAN! did that sting! I was more worried about my eyes than my knee. Eyes were fine after about 5 minutes. so, all is good. Gonna give the knee the day to rest from skiing just incase. sposed to rain today anyhow.

Hi Sizzler.

We are 100kms from Taupo at Rotorua. We have communicated before. I guess you use your boat at Tallington from your links. We skied at Tallington a bit in comps before coming out to NZ, great place to slalom.
Do you ski/wakeboard anywhere else in the UK?

Here is somewhere else we slalom close to Rotorua.

The real question is, would it be the same as what I could get with a System 8????? ;)

Sorry for the poor quality (both skier and photos) ;), but these are screenshots lifted from a low resolution digital video. Sking was free sking in open water at about 33 mph on a 66" ski. I will gladly accept any pointers (constructive pointers that is  ).
